Braving through the harsh weather, the Tagova team from Yasawa made their way to Viti Levu for the Fiji Bitter Tabadamu 7s tournament without hesitation.

Despite the challenges they faced, team manager Imanieli Tubunasiga shared that they were determined not to miss out on the second last leg of the Fiji Bitter Series.

The team had a successful start at the tournament, drawing 5-5 against Nasaunini Babas and securing a 7-5 victory against Nakavu in their second match.

Tubunasiga expressed pride in the team’s performance and highlighted that most of the players are from the village.

“The team was formed with the support of village chiefs to provide the young men with a positive outlet through rugby, steering them away from negative influences like alcohol,” said Tubunasiga.

Rugby is a passion for the boys, and Tubunasiga noted the positive impact the sport has had on their lives.

“The team’s success so far has been attributed to their dedication and love for the game.”

With the support of the Yasawa family on Viti Levu, the team is motivated to perform well in the tournament, aiming to bring home the trophy.
