FMF Bula Festival contestant Miss Unique Rubber Stamp Grace Suvei was emotional yesterday at the passing of iconic Fiji-born musician George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso.
In an interview in Nadi, Ms Suvei said Veikoso had spoken to her on Wednesday morning.
“We share the same maternal links to Vanuabalavu in Lau, and we normally converse on social media,” she said.
“We were just talking two nights ago.
“Before he passed away, he had been motivating me and pushing me towards working hard for this Bula Festival pageant.
“So, this is really a tribute to him passing away.”
Ms Suvei is one of the 10 contestants vying for the Bula festival crown.
The closing ceremony will be held tonight at Prince Charles Park with the crowning of the Bula Queen.
