Suva Volleyball prepares to host Vanua Challenge

AFTER a successful campaign during the Vulaca Championship recently, the Suva Volleyball team is marching onward to the Fiji Volleyball Vanua Challenge at home next month.

In preparing themselves for it, the team will first take a week-long recovery break to ensure players are well rested and to recuperate before training resumes.

When it does, there will be a focus placed on skill development, teamwork and physical conditioning.

The move to take the week off is part of Suva Volleyball’s commitment to athlete welfare, injury prevention and sustained performance.

In a statement, the association said it placed a firm emphasis on safe and inclusive sport with coaches holding accreditation from the Oceania Sports Education Program (OSEP), first aid certification and having undergone safeguarding and gender training over the years.

This would ensure a supportive and professional environment for all athletes was of great importance.

Discipline and respect will continue to remain vital messages of direction for its athletes both on and off the court, in the move towards shaping performance, character, accountability and the favourable representation of the association at all times.

The new approach to their preparations for the national meet comes after their victorious claim of the Vulaca Championship. The Vanua Challenge will be held from Friday, March 6 to Saturday, March 7.
