Fiji has been handed hosting rights for the OFC Futsal Men’s Cup 2025 after the tournament was relocated from the Solomon Islands due to logistical issues.

The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) confirmed the switch in a statement on Tuesday.

The competition will now be held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva from September 20-24.

“The decision was made by the OFC executive committee in light of logistical considerations with the relevant member associations,” the statement said.

While OFC didn’t give a detailed reason, it is understood that Honiara is also preparing to host the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting from September 8 to 12, a high-level regional gathering that is expected to stretch local resources.

“OFC has acknowledged the Solomon Islands football federations (SIFF) for their continued support and commitment to futsal in the region,” the statement added.

The Fiji Football Association (FFA) will now take over preparations and is expected to work closely with OFC to ensure a successful tournament.

This means Fiji will host two major futsal events this year.

The OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League is also scheduled for November 16-23, at the same venue in Suva.

More details on the match schedule and participating teams for the September tournament will be announced soon by OFC.
