A total of 79 teams have registered to be part of the New World Suva Netball Association weekly games as round two of the competition starts on Saturday.
This, according to games coordinator Gabriel Qoro, is the highest number of teams registered in the competition ever.
“So far, we have 79 teams registered to take part this year which is the biggest number ever for Suva Netball Association. We have nine different categories from as lowest category being the Angels grade, Roses grade, Princess grade, Development Grade, Queens grade, Mix grade, Major grade, Premier grade, and Super league,” he said.
The tournament will run for about 12 weeks and will be held at the Fiji Sports Council Netball Centre in Suva.
“The New World Suva Netball Association is the biggest Netball Association in Fiji and every year; we see the numbers of affiliated clubs and members continue to increase.
“This year alone we have introduced another lower category to cater to our minor netball players so that Suva Netball is doing its development right through to the grassroot level.”
Qoro thanked their sponsors for their continued support for the competition and added that the registration for the tournament would be closed by round four of the tournament.
“NEWWORLD IGA has always been supporting the Suva Netball Association for more than 10 years and we are thankful to the management for their assistance year in and year out.
“We have 12 clubs affiliated to Suva Netball this year and the two famous clubs and the mother of all netball clubs in Suva are last year’s champions Lomaiviti Netball Club and CBM Netball Club are again fielding in teams this year.”
