SUVA Grammar School produced a spectacular performance to storm into the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union U18 final after thumping Ra High School 51-0 at Churchill Park yesterday.
Playing in front of an impressive crowd of around 8500 spectators, the Veiuto-based side dominated proceedings from the opening whistle, showcasing strong defence, attacking flair and composure across the park.
Grammar took control in the opening 35 minutes and went into halftime with a commanding 24-0 lead.
Ra High struggled to find answers to Grammar’s intensity, with the Suva side continuing its relentless pressure after the break.
Grammar added another 27 points in the second half while completely shutting down Ra High in attack and defence.
Ra High was unable to build any meaningful momentum and was punished for lapses in defence and a lack of attacking execution as Grammar continued to pile on the pressure.
The win sets up a mouth-watering U18 final against Lelean Memorial School.
Grammar’s impressive campaign has been boosted by the experience of former Fiji Warriors and Suva representative Enele Malele, who is part of the coaching setup as the team’s strength and conditioning coach Sam Speight.
With the final now secured, Grammar will look to carry its dominant form into the title decider against Lelean.
