THE week-long festivities marking Suva Grammar School’s 65th Sapphire Jubilee are drawing to a close, capping days of reunions, student performances and reflection on more than six decades of academic and cultural achievement.

The celebrations began with a church service on the school court where preside of the old scholars Stanley Simpson reflected on the school’s transformation since its founding in 1960.

He said the community’s recent decision to “re-dedicate the school to God” has resulted in improved academic results and overall school performance.

Highlights of the jubilee included reunion events, a student concert, an U18 capping ceremony and the grand ball at the Vodafone Arena, themed 1960s Elegance as the week’s black-tie finale.

The school has called on alumni and the wider community to “make Grammar great again,” emphasising unity, faith and a renewed commitment to excellence.
