Super sub Doidoi scores

SUPER sub Keni Doidoi was in the right place at the right time when he neatly placed the ball behind a helpless Nadroga goalkeeper for a equaliser in the 90th minute and gave his newly promoted Tailevu Naitasiri side their first point in the Galaxy Premier League.

Nadroga was leading 1-0 when Thomas Tuicakau scored through a penalty in the 26th minute of the first half.

The home team played superbly in the first spell as they dictated the game with their crisp passes and tight defence from Ravinesh Dass, Hussein Khan and skipper Luke Rawadamu.

They continued this in the second half and almost scored from several attempts, But from the sideline Tailevu Naitasiri coach Abdul Zamin was studying the Nadroga style of play which was becoming more casual as they had probably felt secured in their lead.

Zamin introduced Doidoi and the game changed dramatically as the former Ba and national rep took the centre stage. His experience came to the fore as he attacked the Nadroga defence and netted the equaliser.

Coach Zamin said his plan paid off.

“We did some technical changes into the second half when we sent in Doidoi and it worked perfectly,” Zamin said.

“He is a very experienced player, apart from him all other players played according to our game plan.”
