The Police rugby team showcases tactical superiority and unyielding defence to successfully retain the prestigious Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl, defeating Army 26-10 at Subrail Park in Labasa.
Police vice-captain Mosese Naiova revealed the simple yet powerful message that drove his side to victory.
“The message before the game was just to take the Tanoa back to Nasova, nothing else.”
Naiova credited a strong defensive effort for shutting down the Army’s early momentum.
“As you’ve witnessed today during the first 10-15 minutes, the Army side played fast rugby so we managed to attack them on that aspect.
“We came back to try to close Army with good defence which led to the result today.”
The Police weathered the intense pressure and noise of the highly-charged match to secure the win.
“Yes it was very vocal but we managed to adapt to that and we came out victorious.”
The vice-captain dedicated the hard-fought win to the entire Police community, both home and abroad.
“We would like to dedicate the win to all the police officers who are on duty and those that are out there in the islands, those who are overseas on mission and those that are on duty this evening, our families and mostly to the God almighty.”
The victory not only retains the Sukuna Bowl for Police but also marks another chapter in the storied history of the forces’ rivalry.
