THE vibrant spirit of the Sugar Festival is set to shine once again as the Lautoka City Council has confirmed that it will take place from November 14 to 21 at the Churchill Park Carnival grounds.
The announcement comes as city authorities and festival organizers align their efforts to deliver a seamless celebration for the community.
Lautoka Board of Special Administrators Chair Taitusi Rasoki confirmed the official schedule, emphasizing a strong commitment toward shared planning between local governance and event coordinators.
“We want to work in partnership with the Sugar festival committee this year, so we will have a meeting next week whereby further details will be confirmed,” he said.
Critical operational decisions, including the allocation and booking process for vendor stall spaces, will be determined immediately following the upcoming joint committee discussions. City officials aim to establish clear guidelines to support local businesses, traders, and community organisations planning to set up stalls during the weeklong festivities.
While Vodafone Fiji Limited were the official corporate sponsor for last year’s carnival, organisers revealed that the lead sponsor for this year’s staging is yet to be determined.
Festival Committee Chairman and Vice President Narendra Semy stated that ground preparations are dependent on final administrative clearance from the council.
Mr Semy said the committee was awaiting the Lautoka City Council’s confirmation of the availability of the space at Churchill Park before moving forward with site development.
