THE Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association plans on acquiring more vital information that can help map out marketing and promotion strategies for key international markets.
Association president Dixon Seeto said FHTA had requested the Fiji Bureau of Statistics for access to information that could reveal the spending power and length of stay of each visitor.
“We want to know how long they stay at local resorts and how much they spend in a single day,” he said.
“By extracting this information, we will be able to find out which areas we need to improve on and what sort of items our tourists are spending their money on.
“That way we can also formulate our marketing and selling promotions to go according to their spending habits.”
Mr Seeto said exciting times were ahead for the tourism industry as arrivals continued to increase.
“We continue to grow stronger annually and I believe at our current rate we can only get better.”
