LONG before the whistle blows at the Perth 7s, Fijian fans have already made their presence felt gathering in numbers to show unwavering support for their national teams.

At the Wanneroo Rugby Club field yesterday, the captain’s run turned into a celebration of culture, pride and home away from home, as fans lined the sidelines cheering, clapping and calling out words of encouragement to the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s players.

Among them was Alisi Logavatu, a familiar face at the Perth 7s, who said supporting the team has become an annual tradition.

“I watch the Perth 7s every year and I know this team will win,” Logavatu said.

“We believe in our team.”

For many fans, support went beyond cheers and chants. Several supporters arrived with bags of fresh fruit, including watermelon and oranges, which they shared with the players after the captain’s run a simple but meaningful gesture reflecting the Fijian spirit of care and togetherness.

As the players cooled down and refuelled, the exchange of smiles, handshakes and words of encouragement highlighted the close bond between the team and its supporters, even thousands of kilometres away from home.

With flags waving and voices echoing across the field, the gathering was a reminder that wherever the Fiji 7s play, they are never alone.

In Perth, the fans have once again turned up in force, carrying with them belief, faith and the hope of seeing Fiji lift another trophy.
