The State has moved to withdraw a criminal charge against suspended Fiji Corrections Commissioner Sevuloni Naucukidi.

The matter was set for trial this morning before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne, when the State indicated its intention to discontinue the case.

Mr Naucukidi is charged with one count of criminal intimidation, alleged to have occurred in June 2025 involving a staff member.

The case will be re-called today for further submissions, after which the magistrate will determine the applicable provision under Section 169 of the Criminal Procedure Act 2009 for the withdrawal.

Mr Naucukidi’s bail has been extended.
