State given two weeks to file disclosures to accused

FULL disclosures will be given to the 36 people charged with sedition and urging political violence when they appear in the High Court in Lautoka on September 22.

The suspects, alleged to have been involved in military style training earlier this year, appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe and Justice Aruna Aluthge yesterday.

The 36 are two juveniles, Isaia Driu, Samuela Nabenia, Ilaitia Korolala, Semi Uqeuqe, Meli Nasalasala, Salimoni Serau, Penasio Luqa, Joseva Caucau, Isireli Serewai,

Rokoua Duatini, Filimoni Naloga, Sanaila Maliqama, Jolame Turagabeci, Marika Qalo, Manueli Nadukula, Tevita Damudamu, Jese Vatusumu, Timoci Nacolatabisa, Apenisa Saqanarere,

Mosese Tawake, Esa Namure, Jone Fatiaki, Vive Naiyo, Qalita Lomavatu Vakacegu, Inoke Navunilagi, Tomasi Madigibuli, Mitieli Raituku, Vosavosa Tunakoro, Maciu Uto, Vetaia Dale,

Fonomanu Maresio, Sevanaia Qaranivalu, Matereti Vunisa and Viliame Baravilala.

State lawyers have been given two weeks to prepare the disclosures and serve them to the accused individuals.

The State also applied for a consolidation of the cases which were called before two High Court judges yesterday. The application requested that the case be called before Justice Aluthge.

The suspects have been remanded in custody.
