FINANCE Minister Esrom Immanuel called for a genuine partnership with the Fiji Association of Architects and the overall sector to achieve the nation’s development goals.
While addressing delegates at the Extra Fiji Architecture Conference and Trade Exhibition at the Sheraton Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Denarau, Nadi, Mr Immanuel reiterated that success hinges on genuine partnership.
“We need you to be proactive advocates for quality, ethics and long term value in our building environment also engage directly with the Ministry all the ministries of government as we formulate the next budget.
To incentivise high-quality, sustainable development, the ministry is exploring targeted fiscal instruments.
“We are in discussion with the Fiji Revenue and Custom Services to introduce capital allowances and accelerated depreciation for commercial and private developments that demonstrably exceed the standards set out in the physical, climate resilient.
“We want to make the right choice, sustainable choice, economically sensible choice.”
Mr Immanuel called on the sector to collaborate with academic institutions like the Fiji National University and the University of the South Pacific to ensure graduates are equipped with the necessary skills.
