Fiji Bati rep Isaac Lumelume has stirred up a storm in the National Rugby League competition after making his debut for the Melbourne Storm against the Manly Sea Eagles on Sunday.
The Storm clipped the Sea Eagles’ wings with a smashing 30-6 win. Storm coach Craig Bellamy told NRL that Lumelume had an exciting debut.
“Lumelume did a terrifi c job I thought. He had a couple of games earlier, a game of sevens and a game of tens, so to come out and play like that was a big effort,” Bellamy said.
“He was really aggressive with his running and is following the footsteps of Fijian wingers that have played for our club.”
The Storm consolidated second spot with the tough 30-6 win over the Sea Eagles. PNG international Justin Olam scored a hat-trick for the Storm, prop Jesse Bromwich was enormous up front while fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen had three try assists in another stellar display.
The win was the 16th in a row for the Storm in Queensland at all venues. Manly has slim chances of playing in the finals after they fell six points behind eighth-placed Cronulla with four rounds remaining.
