Nadroga Rugby Union president Tiko Matawalu has forewarned rugby fans to expect fireworks when the Farebrother trophy holder host Skipper Cup defending champion Suva this weekend at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

“There are going to be a lot of fireworks in this game because it’s a replay of the final in Skipper Cup last year and the replay of the Farebrother Sullivan Trophy Challenge,” Matawalu said.

Matawalu said when the two colossal giants went head to head in the first game of the season it would set a standard for the rest of the teams in the competition.

“Having it as the first game of the season is going to set the benchmark for the rest of the season.

“So rugby competition for Skipper Cup will only improve from this first game.”

Matawalu said Nadroga were not under any illusion the game would be a walk in the park and knew full well what Suva was capable of having lost to them in the final of the Skipper Cup for two years in a row.

“Suva is laced with very colourful player profiles, and that is an up-hill battle for Nadroga. “Nadroga is not new to preparing for big games like this.

“They know what they are going to be up against and know what they need to do in order to put up the right game.

“We have a lot of confidence in our coaches and more confidence in our players and are looking forward to a good game.”

The clash at Lawaqa Park in Nadroga will kick-off at 3pm.
