The stage is set for the start of proceedings for the 2023 McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s in Sigatoka from today.
With the tournament proper to begin tomorrow, community engagement activities begin today. National 7s head coach Ben Gollings will conduct a Skills Clinic for children at the St Joan of Arc Ground in Sigatoka.
Children of all ages are welcome to participate in this clinic which starts at 2pm.
Later in the afternoon, Kenya rugby legend Collins Injera and Noa Nadruku will be inducted in the Walk of Fame in the Rugby Town at 4pm.
Tournament founding chairman Jay Whyte said all was ready for the tournament to begin. “Everything has been coming together quite smoothly. There has been a lot of interest in the public,” Whyte said.
“Our ambassador Collins Injera has been quite famous among the locals here. People are talking about the tournament and we are ready for kick off.”
He added the hype for the tournament had kicked in and people were looking forward to the events today.
“We welcome all the kids around Sigatoka to come and join the skills clinic. Also looking forward to the plague unveiling. It will happen in the middle of the town and everyone is welcome.”
