ONE hundred and six students at St Thomas Primary School in Lautoka were inducted into their new leadership roles as school prefects yesterday.
Heading the student council this year are headboy Inia Yalayala and headgirl Viniana Waqarua.
School manager and Our Lady of Perpetual Help priest Father Veremo Dovarua stressed the message of inclusivity and servitude.
“I was reminding them what the Lord Jesus said that I came not to be served, but to serve,” he said.
“So, the onus is on them to be the best that they can be in the capacity of being prefects and that they be people who are patient with others around them and to show respect perhaps, to be obedient to the school.”
Mr Dovarua also urged the students to carry out their daily service as prefects and not to look down on the students.
