THE St Therese of Lisieux College under-16 team from Nadroga is poised to make history in the Weet-Bix Raluve quarter-finals today as they face off against Adi Cakobau School.

This marks the first time the team has reached the quarter-finals, a remarkable achievement that they hope to build upon as they strive towards the final.

Principal Penaia Qalituraga expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishments, emphasising the dedication and talent demonstrated by the players on their journey to this stage of the competition.

He noted that this milestone is a historic moment for the school and the province of Nadroga, a testament to the hard work and passion of the girls who have represented their school with honor.

“It is a milestone and history in the making for our U16 Raluve team, they have really done the school and the province on Nadroga proud,” said Qalituraga.

“We will be doing our very best in the field, we won’t promise anything, the girls have trained hard for this match and we just looking forward.”

As they gear up for the challenging match against AdiCakobau School, Qalituraga acknowledged the formidable opponent but expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and determination.

“Adi Cakobau School is not an easy team to take on, they have been a tough side, so facing them will be a great challenge for us.

Despite the challenges of traveling across the river for their matches, the team has shown resilience and determination in advancing to this stage of the competition.

“The challenge we face is our school is on the other side of the river, we have to cross the river every Saturday for our competition, it’s not easy for us, but reaching this far in the competition is something big for the school.”

Qalituraga called upon supporters to rally behind the team and cheer them on as they aim to create history and make their school proud.

The team will face ACS at 8.30am, Bidesi Park in Suva.

In other matches, U-18 Lelean Memorial School will take on Bucalevu Secondary School at 3.40pm.

In the U19 playoffs, Ratu Kadavulevu School will face Navatu Secondary School.

In the Weet-Bix Raluve quarter-finals, in the U16 Saint Vincent will meet Dreketi Central College at 8.30am, while Sigatoka Methodist will play Lomaivuna High School.

In the U18 grade, Natabua High School will face Adi Cakobau School at 10.30am, while Jasper Williams High School to face Nasinu Secondary School at 11.30am.
