St Anne’s Primary School celebrated its 120 years anniversary last week.
The all-girls primary school was established in 1904.
The school’s head teacher, Miliana Caginavanua said when the school was established, the students and sisters used level one and two for classes, while the American soldiers used the third level of the building during World War I.
The school was looked after by the Sisters of St Joseph’s of Cluny when it was established and later by the Sisters of Our Lady of Nazareth.
“Today St Annes has 419 students with an average of 54 students per class,” Mrs Caginavanua said.
“For our week-long celebration, we had our opening mass on Monday where our alumni, the sisters with the students and teachers were in attendance.
“After the opening mass the Year 1 and 8 presented on the 50’s and 60’s decade with music, fashion, literature and art at the school.
“On Tuesday the Year 2 and 7 students presented on the 70’s and 80’s decades, on Wednesday the Year 3 and 6 students presented on the 2000 decade while the 2010 decade was presented by the Year 4 and 5 students on Thursday.
“On Friday we had the school concert where all the levels showcased their songs and dances from their decade.”
The last item performed during the concert was a Maori item performed by 12 students who travelled to New Zealand this year.
She said the week-long celebration was a fun-filled one for the students, the sisters, teachers, parents and alumni.
