Nadi’s Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College (SSKMC) Under-19 girls side defended its title after beating Tilak High School to claim first position during the Fiji Secondary School’s Hockey national finals which concluded on Friday at Nadovu Park in Lautoka.
Team captain Ruth King said she was proud of their achievement and felt humbled with the victory.
“We fielded a fresh team and knew it would take some hard yards to retain the title,” said the Year 11 student.
King added for a novice team, the commitment from the coaches drove them to achieve results beyond their expectations.
She added that effective communication and discipline made them win both the U-16 and U-19 girls grades.
