THE FMF Suva Rugby Union competition enters a crucial stage this weekend as the Escott shield reaches the semi-final stage, while the Koroturaga competition pauses ahead of next week’s grand final.

There will be no Koroturaga matches this weekend after the finalist Fa & Company Eastern Saints and CK Bargain RKS old boys 2 secured their places in the championship decider last Saturday. The competition will resume next week when the two teams meet to battle for the title and bring the season to a close.

With the Koroturaga finalists already confirmed, the focus now shifts to the Escott Shield, where the remaining teams will contest the semi-finals for a place in next week’s final.

The semi-finals are expected to produce two hard-fought contests, with each team aiming to keep its championship hopes alive. A place in the final is at stake, adding extra significance to every match as clubs look to finish their campaigns on a high.

Next week’s schedule will feature both major finals, with the Koroturaga champions to be crowned alongside the Escott Shield winners. The conclusion of both competitions will mark the end of another competitive season for the Suva Rugby Union.

The finals are expected to showcase the depth of local club rugby, with teams having worked through several rounds to reach the closing stages of the competition.

The semi-final fixtures for this week, Saturday, July 11, TISA Insurance Covenant Brothers will face Lomaiviti in the first semi-final match at 4.15pm, followed by FRESH’ET Navy Blue up against Police Blues at 6pm at the HFC Bank Stadium.
