SPSNA shifts inter district focus

THE Suva Primary Schools Netball Association has shifted their sights on the Inter-District Championship that will be held at the National Netball Centre in August.

After the conclusion of its weekly competition last weekend, the federation is already drawing out plans on how to win all grade titles at the IDC.

And this plan starts with the trials for the Suva team this week. Association president Elenoa Vadei said this season had been a successful one.

“The season has been fantastic one not only for the players but also for the association,” Vadei said.

“We had a few hiccups in the beginning but thanks to our sponsor CK Ezybuy we got on track.

“We are now moving on to our trials which will be held this week on Wednesday and Thursday.

“The calibre of girls we got is of high quality so selection will be hard for the selectors to choose from the pool we have.”

Vadei also highlighted the IDC this year would be hotly contested.

“All the other districts will come prepared so we cannot underestimate them,” Vadei added.

“We will try to win all the grade titles and we know that we have the players to do so.

“We will have two top teams per each grade competing against the Nasinu school teams in a one-day competition in few weeks time.

‘The selectors will then be able to gauge the players’ performance from this as well.”

The trials for the U9-U14 will be held at the LICI Courts and National Netball Centre on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

Suva will be fielding two teams per grade at the IDC.

IDC will be held from August 18-20.
