The Fiji Sports Council Grassroots under-21 sevens tournament is set to showcase the talent of young rugby, netball, and volleyball players as they compete in Rakiraki.

With a total of 24 rugby teams and 12 netball and volleyball teams participating, the competition promises to be fierce, with teams from Ra, Tavua, and Ba areas vying for the championship title.

Emosi Lasaqa, the Fiji Sports Council communications officer, emphasised the excitement surrounding the event, with local communities showing strong support for their teams.

“The buzz in Rakiraki is electric. Villages and communities are rallying behind their local teams, and there’s excitement over spotting future stars of Fiji Rugby. Many are calling this the battle of the next generation,” said Lasaqa.

The tournament will take place at Nayauraba Sports ground on July 25-26.

Ba River is the defendiing champion.
