THE Fiji Sports Council and the Agriculture Marketing Authority yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the FSC headquarters that will see the two-organisations partner to drive national development through sports and agriculture.
Through this partnership, AMA is set to provide the financial support for the Fiji Sports Council Grassroots 7s and Volleyball Development events for 2026.
AMA executive chairman Jone Sovalawa said the partnership is a vision that goes beyond business, it is about youth empowerment community and nation building.
“Sports inspire discipline perseverance and teamwork; with agriculture it sustains livelihoods and nutritious our nation together they form the foundation of a resilient and vibrant Fiji.
“Through these events we will engage directly with farmers families and youths sharing information about agriculture opportunities, promoting AMA services and strengthening the AMA brand and presence nation wide,” he said.
CEO Gilbert Vakalalabure said through this partnership the FSC as a sports development organisation will now have the opportunity to help build nation through exciting sports initiatives.
“We would like to thank you sir for giving us an opportunity to go in partnership with another statutory body of the government to be able to develop the nation as a whole,” he said.
The first Fiji Sports Council Grassroots 7s tournament is set to be held next week at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva with 16 teams anticipated to compete.
