AS the year 2025 draws to a close, Fiji’s sports community receives heartfelt Christmas messages from two prominent leaders, reflecting on the year past and looking ahead with hope and determination.

Newly elected chief executive officer of Fiji Rugby Union Koli Sewabu shared a message of gratitude and optimism.

Reflecting on 2025, Sewabu acknowledged the challenges that surfaced throughout the year, highlighting the organization’s efforts to address them.

“It’s been an exciting journey so far this year,” he said, emphasizing that Fiji Rugby is now in a better position to understand and tackle these issues.

Looking forward to 2026, Sewabu expressed enthusiasm about the opportunities the new year will bring for Fiji Rugby.

A significant part of his message was an appreciation for the media, crediting them as vital partners in supporting rugby and communicating crucial information to the public.

“We know that rugby for us is not just a sport, it’s the heartbeat of our nation,” Sewabu remarked, underscoring the deep cultural significance of the sport in Fiji.

Complementing this perspective, Peter Mazey, Executive Chairman of the Fiji National Sports Commission, conveyed his warm Christmas wishes to all Fijian athletes, sports officials, and administrators.

Mazey prayed for God’s special blessings on young and aspiring sportspeople as they celebrate the festive season and prepare for a successful 2026.

He also extended thanks to everyone for their valuable contributions to sports and the nation throughout 2025.

Together, these messages inspire the Fijian sports community to embrace the lessons of the past year, appreciate the support systems around them, and look forward to a prosperous and blessed new year ahead.
