Paradise Beverages receives requests to sponsor tournaments weekly, says its sponsorship and events specialist Alfaio Tekavei.
Paradise Beverages agreed to support 12 local tournaments this year which is known as the Fiji Bitter 7s Series.
The tournaments are held across this country.
Tekavei said it would be difficult to increase the number of tournaments on the series within the 7s season timeframe of six months.
He said they would consider having more tournaments if there are changes to the sevens calendar set out by the governing body, Fiji Rugby Union.
“Of course, we consider every application but now the Fiji Bitter tournament series is locked. We cannot just take on any tournament,” he said.
The only way forward, Tekavesi said, was to swap tournaments around, but this depended on the performance of the event committees.
“We have a structure in place for next season; a way we can swap tournaments for another one,” he said.
“It depends on the organisers, and they are all aware; again it comes down to their performance and how well they organise a tournament.
“At the end of the day, I think the focus should be on the people these tournaments represent.
The money raised in all tournaments go back to communities behind 7s rugby.”
