THE inaugural Fastest Player Sprint event at the 2026 McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s rugby tournament is set to bring an exciting new dimension to the competition, thanks to the support of the Shangri-La Yanuca Island Fiji Resort.
Scheduled for Saturday, January 17, this high-energy event will showcase the speed and skill of the fastest players from all participating teams in a thrilling 100-metre race.
To ensure a fair and inclusive competition, the Fastest Player Sprint will feature three separate divisions: a youth division with 16 competitors, a women’s division with 10 competitors, and a men’s division with 24 competitors.
Winners from each division will receive premium prizes courtesy of the Shangri-La Yanuca Island Fiji Resort, emphasising the resort’s commitment to recognising excellence in the sport and rewarding top-tier performance across all levels.
Francis Lee, the general manager of Shangri-La Yanuca Island Fiji Resort, expressed his enthusiasm for the addition of the Fastest Player Sprint to the tournament program.
Lee emphasised the event’s celebration of performance, inclusivity, and excitement across all divisions of the game, highlighting the sprint as a fantastic addition to the tournament that reflects excellence both on and off the field.
