Government plans to establish an emergency committee and allocate special funding under the Strategic Planning Office to coordinate road and drainage works for the greater Nausori area.

This is stated in a public statement published on the official social media page of Deputy Prime Minister, Prof Biman Prasad.

He led a government delegation on a tour of rural Nausori and Tailevu to assess infrastructure challenges and development priorities for the region.

“Rural roads and drainage remain a major concern for these communities,” said Prof Prasad.

“The government plans to establish an emergency committee and allocate special funding under the Strategic Planning Office to coordinate road and drainage works for the greater Nausori area.”

In Tailevu, the team met with farmers at Deep Water, where a cooperative has received farm machinery assistance.

This support has enhanced crop cultivation and enabled farmers to diversify into rice and watermelon farming, strengthening local agricultural production.
