Boost for local athletics with Athletics Fiji spearheading the revival of the sport across the country.

With sports competitions returning after a long spell of COVID-19 lockdown, AF development officer and former national rep Albert Miller said the aim was to revive the sport in the country.

“We are conducting development projects across the country to revive athletics interest,” he said.

“We are working with teachers to build the interest among children and across schools.”

Athletics Fiji, last week, as part of the nationwide revival project, handed over $1800 worth of athletics equipment to the newly formed Nausori Athletics Association.

It’s part of our development program to create more athletics centres around the country with regular competition available to athletes.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from World Athletics.

“Athletics Fiji is looking forward to the setting other centres in the next couple of weeks.”

AF is conducting weekly competitions as it prepares for a busy 2022 season.
