THE largest exporter of German sparkling wine Henkell has partnered with the Motibhai Group of Companies to introduce their world-renowned range of sparkling wines to the Fiji market.

The expert wine makers and the retail giant held the Henkell Wine and Wave event at the Crowne Plaza in Nadi on Thursday to offer guests a taste of the Henkell-Freixenet sparkling wine collection.

Henkell-Freixenet chief commercial officer Philip Wells said the 165 year old company sold their wide range of wine in 100 countries and is the largest exporter of German sparkling wine.

“It is the number one seller of imported sparkling wine in Australia and has been for quite some time, and the reason for that is not just its value for money perspective but the way it is made,” Mr Wells said.

“We make it using what’s called the Charmat method, and we rest it on lees, which are the fine particles that sit in wine, and it sits for six months.”

Mr Wells said this sets them apart from competitors within industry.

“In the wine-making world, that is a very expensive thing to do and no one else in the market does that at our price point.”

Motibhai Group of Companies wines and spirits business development manager Nitesh Chand said the products on offer were Henkell Rose, Henkell Troken dry sec and Henkell Blanc de Blanc.

“Our strengths are our wine selections and brands that we carry for the Fiji market, and Henkell is one of the top and best performing brands in our portfolio,” Mr Chand said.

“We are very thankful to our supplier for being here to assist and host wine training sessions and events over the past few days.”
