Spain will face France in the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup after defeating Belgium 2-1 in an intense match in Los Angeles, in the United States yesterday.
Mikel Merino was the man of the hour for the Spaniards by slicing through opposition to score the tie-breaker in the 88th minute of play.
He had come off the bench minutes earlier.
Spain’s first goal was placed between the posts by Fabian Rui while the Belgians replied with their only goal through Charles De Ketelaere in the 30th minute.
France and Spain will meet in the first semi-final this Wednesday at 7am.
Today’s quarter-finals:
9am-Norway v England, 1pm-Argentina v Switzerland.
