Malolo lass Siobhan Soqeta is the second Fijian woman making waves in European rugby.

Siobhan was born in New Zealand and is a proud daughter of Noa Soqeta from Malolo, Nadroga and Irish/Cook Island mother Natalie Soqeta.

The 19-year-old lock/forward will be part of the France’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Six Nations Championship.

Soqeta is currently playing for French Elite 1 club FC Grenoble Amazones and continues to impress with her rapid development in one of the toughest women’s rugby competitions in the world.

Her rise through the ranks has been swift. After representing France at the Under-20 level, Soqeta’s consistent performances at club level have now propelled her into the senior national stage.

She now stands as the second Fijian women to be selected into the French national team alongside Makarita Baleinadogo.

Soqeta’s performances in the Elite 1 competition regarded as the women’s equivalent of France’s Top 14 have drawn attention from selectors.

Nicknamed “Bonnie”, her inclusion in the Six Nations squad underlines both her potential and the growing depth within French women’s rugby.

As she prepares to test herself against Europe’s best, Soqeta’s journey will be closely followed, especially in Fiji, where her roots remain a proud part of her identity.

She is expected to feature when France takes on Italy in their opening match of the Women’s Six Nations at Stade des Alpes in Grenoble on Saturday at 11.25pm (local time).
