SUVA Grammar School sprinter Tevita Sokiveta retained his blue ribbon title after winning the senior boys 100 metres in the Suva Zone Two competition yesterday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Sokiveta clocked 10.64 seconds ahead of teammate Tevita Mocekinasau with a time of 10.67s and settling in third place was Pranav Datt of Jai Narayan College with a time of 11.22s.

Sokiveta of Nawaikama Village on Gau, says his aim is to beat Pacific sprinter king and former MBHS sprinter Banuve Tabakaucoro’s time in the Fiji Finals.

“Training was tough and I know what to expect come the Coca-Cola Games,” he said.

“One year from the tracks didn’t stop me as I continued training. I know I have to pull up my socks if I want to win a gold medal in the Fiji Finals.”

In the senior girls grade Marian O’Neill came in first, Livia Nabulo of SGS second and Unaisi Talabale of SGS in third place.
