Marika Rodu is now the head coach of the Fiji under-16 girls football team, but from 1998-2013, he was a force to be reckoned with on the field.

In today’s entry of the SOKA File, The Fiji Times caught up with Rodu at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa, Suva yesterday, where he shared the excitement of winning back-to-back titles for Rewa from 2003-04 in the Battle of the Giants.

He shared his thirst for victory after Rewa’s 2001 IDC win had been quenched by the back-to-back streak and with his foray into coaching, it was a natural ascension from a football career that began when he was just a young boy.

Rodu’s story is part of The Fiji Times SOKA FILE series, building up to the 2025 Extra Battle of the Giants, which kicks off this Friday at Subrail Park in Labasa.
