THE Fiji Cancer Society celebrated a new dawn yesterday with the appointment of new board members, trustees and management, their appointment bringing an end to two years of turmoil for the society.
Their appointment was accompanied by a new constitution that will be trialled for three months after which necessary changes will be made.
Nominated unopposed as trustees were Dr Isaiah Emmanuel, Mary Muir and Dr Joeli Veitayaki.
Nominated unopposed as board members were Cecelia Frost as President, Philip Low as vice president, Vishal Lal as secretary, Timoci Naulumatua as treasurer and Jinesh Patel, Josateki Koroi, Jessica Patterson, Samantha Kenny and Inoke Bainimarama as board members.
President Cecelia Frost said she understood the negative image some people had of the society but added it was their challenge to change perceptions and move the society forward.
The society had a difficult past two years with internal bickering among board members and their lowest point coming when police had to investigate an incident where financial data was deleted.
