Education Minister Rosy Akbar says the social distancing issue will be relaxed in schools.

However, she said students, teachers and management of schools were to adhere to other COVID-19 health advisories.

She said the onus would be on school heads to see that health advice was being followed in schools.

“The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has advised us that there has been relaxation of social distancing issues, while the rest of the advice given by the health personnel will be followed, you’ve got to keep in mind and understand the Fiji situation,” she said.

“We have some schools that are overcrowded but then we do have schools which have other buildings like libraries and science labs.

“The onus will be on the heads of schools and the advice will be given to the divisions as to how we will move forward.”
