Snooker heads for tough 2018 season

THE North West Billiards and Snooker Association (NWBSA) will start its 2018 season with the Phil’s Autoport sponsored doubles tournament at the Lautoka Club today.

A total of 32 players have registered for the event. They will be ranked as A and B grade players and put in two different hats.

NWBSA president Suresh Chauhan said a player from each hat would be drawn to make up the doubles team.

He said this way the teams would be equally competitive in the tournament.

“The winning team will receive $400,” Chauhan said.

“The top players like Tony Cen, Nitesh Chand, Simon Reddy and Ismail Wali will be participating.

“The players will be graded in group A and Group B according to their calibre.”

The NWBSA will also hold a meeting during the tournament to finalise the dates for its other tournaments.

The NWBSA league will commence next week.
