Suva Muslim College player Sandra Chand was the star of the match, scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 victory against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School in the Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Futsal Championship under-16 final at the Fiji FA futsal court in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

The first half ended nil-all, with both teams showcasing strong defensive prowess. However, Suva Muslim College dominated the second half, ultimately securing the win with a remarkable goal.

Head coach Avikash Rohitesh expressed his pride in the team’s hard work and dedication leading up to the final.

“The match was really good, we have really worked hard from the past three week, and I believe the girls have done wonders today (yesterday),” said Rohitesh.

This victory marked a significant milestone for Suva Muslim College, as it was their first appearance in the final and subsequent championship win.

“Looking at the futsal match this is the first time our school has been on the final and to win the competition, so we like to thank God and the girls for the hard work.

“The message to the girls on half time, it was still nil-all the competition was still there but then our girls we took the stand in the second half to win the match.”

Rohitesh extended his gratitude to the supportive parents and dedicated coaching staff for their contributions to the team’s success.
