Defending national Raluve Under-16 champions Sigatoka Methodist College reaffirmed their dominance last Saturday, cruising to a commanding 24-0 win over St Teresa College in the Western Secondary Schools final at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
The girls from the rugby mad town of Sigatoka were in control from the opening whistle, showcasing their trademark physicality and flair to take a 19-0 lead at halftime.
Their structured attack and clinical finishing proved too much for the spirited St Teresa side.
Despite trailing, the girls from Bemana refused to back down in the second half, putting up a gutsy defensive display.
However, Sigatoka Methodist’s depth and experience shone through as they added another try to seal the shutout win.
Team captain Adi Repeka Naivinivini credited their success to faith, family, and school support.
“We know without God we wouldn’t have been able to achieve this win,” Naivinivini said.
“We also want to thank our school, teachers, and especially our parents for their continued support. Our aim now is to defend our national title.”
The win sets the tone for Sigatoka Methodist as they prepare to retain their national crown in the upcoming Vodafone Raluve Championship.
