LOCAL boxing fans can look forward to an exciting year ahead, with the Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) considering several promising events for the 2026 professional boxing calendar.

According to BCF Chairman Adi Narayan, multiple promoters have submitted appealing and thrilling proposals for the upcoming year.

Zeg Boxing Promotions is set to host the first event of the year in March, followed by another later in the year.

“We have a new promoter, Alfaaz Mallam, trading as Zeg Boxing Promotions. His application was approved, and he will be hosting a programme on March 28 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva,” Narayan stated.

Blue Waters Promotions also plans to hold two events in 2026, with the first in April set to mark a historic moment for professional boxing in Fiji.

“Mohammed Sameer Khan of Blue Waters Boxing Promotions is currently in New Zealand negotiating with boxers, is organising a fight at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on April 25,” Narayan explained.

He added that the event will feature boxers from New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, India, and Fiji.

“This means five countries will be represented in the programme, which is very encouraging and exciting for patrons,” he said.

“If it goes ahead, it will be the first time we have four foreign countries participating in our professional boxing.”

Alan Kumar’s Bula Sports Events have also proposed two events during the year, with one scheduled for April and the other in October.

Dates are yet to be confirmed for the two events, pending venue booking confirmations.

Narayan is optimistic that all six events will meet BCF’s standards, promising fans a thrilling year for professional boxing in Fiji.
