Students across University of the South Pacific (USP) campuses in 12 countries are now connected through a singular network system, Cisco.
In a statement, the USP announced the move would enhance online learning platforms.
The initiative was made possible through USP’s collaboration with global networking company Cisco.
According to USP vice chancellor and president Professor Pal Ahluwalia, the collaboration was critical to connecting all regional campuses, staff, and students.
“Students and staff across our campuses rely on a secure, resilient network to access course materials, and learning experiences and to create and sustain personal connections,” he said, adding that Cisco provided the university with that network.
For Edwin Sandys, the manager enterprise systems and network infrastructure, the achievement was a culmination of years of work.
Cisco is based in the United States and has about 80 per cent of internet traffic globally.
