Fiji football national under-16 rep Shania Singh, playing for Nasinu, showcased her talent by scoring three goals to secure a 3-0 victory against Lami in the Digicel Fiji girls under-16 League round five competition at Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa yesterday.
Singh’s performance was outstanding as she opened the scoring early in the game and added another before the break, giving Nasinu a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime.
Despite Lami’s efforts in the second half, they were unable to contain Singh, who completed her hat-trick to seal the victory.
Nasinu’s head coach, Emily Esposito, highlighted the good aspects of the game while acknowledging some errors and the lack of preparation for some of the players due to missed training sessions.
“The game was good. There were some errors, but it was a great competition for the girls, it was good, the game was good,” said Esposito.
“Preparations coming to the competition was bit hard, some of the girls didn’t come for training, so it was not a good preparation for some of the girls.
“After all we knew we have a good side, and we will win the game.”
Esposito emphasised the need to work on long kicks and highballs for the goalkeepers in the upcoming matches.
She also praised Lami’s skills but noted areas of improvement in ball control.
Singh’s exceptional performance was crucial in securing the win for Nasinu, and Esposito expressed gratitude to the supporters and teammates for their contribution to the team’s success.
