All hands are on deck this Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka and Prince Charles Park in Nadi when the national quarter-finals of the Vodafone Deans competition takes place there.
The quarter-finals will be played simultaneously at both locations, however all of the under-18 quarter-final matches will be held at Churchill Park.
The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union’s vice president for development, Biu Colati explained how the arrangement on Saturday would work.
“It means that Churchill Park becomes our ground number one and I think we have released our draws to that effect and so we are going to be naming Churchill Park as our ground one and Churchill Park ground two is our number two,” Colati told Times Sports.
“And then King Charles Park will be our number three and one of the grounds outside King Charles Park is our number four.”
While the two venues will have both fields within its vicinity taken for the competition, special warm-up areas have been allocated for participating schools.
“And we have one ground outside King Charles Park which is for warmup only and also one ground in Lautoka within the Churchill Park, that is for warmup and also we have secured Natabua (High School) to be another warmup venue in case somebody wants to move out of Churchill Park to use that as a venue for warmup.”
With the two venues holding the quarter-finals, Colati said everything was covered as a result and the draws were designed in a manner that would keep all teams together in a particular venue.
The quarter-final matches for the various grades are split across all venues with each one having one game from each grade.
