GOOD news for members of the public in the greater Labasa area as they can enjoy the London and Paris legs of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series campaign following the restoration of Fiji One signals at Delaikoro last week.
People can now access clear Fiji One television reception through normal VHF antennas. This follows the refurbishment works carried out by Fiji Television Ltd engineers at their repeater site on Delaikoro last week.
The company’s CEO, Geoffrey Smith, said they were now awaiting the proposed government digital platform project in the North to extend better services in Savusavu and other remote area.
“Our engineers were at the Delaikoro repeater site to work on restoring our signals and we are glad to say that it is up and running now,” he said.
“People in the greater Labasa area can now access clear coverage through the normal VHF antennas sold at their nearest hardware store.
“However, the same is not true for those living in Savusavu and other remote areas as we are still waiting on Government’s proposed Digital Platform project so that we can use it as a platform to extend our coverage to remote areas.”
Earlier last week in the height of the Coke Games, this newspaper received complaints from members of the public, who said they were not included into the game’s spirit after a lot of people could not access Fiji One coverage in Labasa and Savusavu.
Labasa resident Sukha Singh said the North was always forgotten during national events such as the Coke Games.
