The Fiji Meteorological Service says a trough of low pressure will continue to affect the country, bringing unsettled weather conditions through the weekend.

In its latest bulletin issued at 5:30am today, the weather office forecasts occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms across most parts of the Fiji group.

“Isolated heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low-lying areas,” the advisory warned.

Moderate northwest winds and moderate seas are also expected.

Looking ahead to Sunday, similar conditions are forecast, with showers and thunderstorms continuing before gradually easing later in the day.

However, forecasters caution that localized heavy rainfall could still trigger flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant, especially in areas prone to flooding.
