FIVE applicants have been shortlisted for the Fiji Rugby Union chief executive position.
Responding to questions by TimesSport, FRU Board chairman John Sanday revealed that out of the five shortlisted applicants, two are from overseas and three are locals.
A total of 12 applications were received on November 15 by local company Maximise which handled the assessment in line with the position description and requirements laid out by the FRU.
“FRU Board approved a shortlist of five applicants. These are now before the Board and interviews are being arranged and will be conducted next week with a final decision to be made by the end of next week, December 12,” Sanday said.
The person selected for the position will lead FRU forward in alignment with modern-day rugby.
“A candidate will be someone with proven strong, strategic leadership and organisational skills in the field of rugby, in both the domestic and international aspects of the game. It will require long hours of work, much travel both locally and internationally and that requires a person with a lot of energy and focus, so the incumbent is to be someone that ticks all these boxes.”
Sanday said that once the key positions are filled, they will continue with organisational review of FRU to better fit it to the commercial and professional requirements of the modern rugby world.
Koli Sewabu is the acting CEO.
