THE Oceania Regatta called into port in Suva on July 11. The cruise ship which was built in 1998 is part of Oceania Cruises with a guest capacity of 670 (double occupancy).

The ship had arrived in Suva from Lautoka on Friday morning.

The ship has a tonnage of 30,277 with a length of 593.7 feet and has 11 decks. It is registered in the Marshall Islands.

It has 62 suites, 349 staterooms, four restaurant and dining facilities, 11 bars and lounges and one pool.

The boat has a maximum speed of 18 knots and was last refurnished in 2019.

Oceania Cruises that operate the Regatta is a leading culinary and destination focused cruise line in the world.

Street hawker Navi Kumar of Cunningham said he wasn’t able to sell anything to the cruise ship passengers, but was happy to have talked to a few of them.

“I met an elderly couple from the ship, and they said they loved the old landmarks in Suva. They were retired and just wanted to go on a cruise in the Pacific.”

He said he always meets a lot of tourists from the cruise ship when he comes to sell in Suva.

According to Oceania Cruises, their line operates seven small luxurious ships that carry a maximum of 1250 guests and feature the finest cuisines at sea.

Ocean Cruises is owned by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd, a diversified cruise operator of leading global brands including Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

The ship departed Suva at 5pm.

The Regatta is one of the two cruise ship that is scheduled to visit Suva this month.

The other cruise ship is the Carnival Splendor which is expected to arrive on Sunday (July 27).
