SHIPPING TIMES | New shipping charges to hit South Pacific routes from April 1

Listen to this article:

A REVISED Low Sulphur Recovery (LSR) charge for shipments to the South Pacific will take effect from April 1, 2026, according to a notice issued to customers by Neptune Pacific.

Released on March 17, the notice said the adjustment applies to transshipment trades from Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. It follows an earlier advisory released by the company on March 5 this year.

The company in the notice cited the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the continued escalation of fuel and bunker prices as the reasons for the increase.

The updated LSR replaces a previous announcement made on February 27, 2026.

The company said it would continue to monitor bunker prices on a monthly basis and would advise customers of any further changes if necessary.

Under the revised structure, the LSR will be set at $US242 ($F538.15) per dry twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) and $US363 ($F807.22) per reefer TEU.

Neptune Pacific thanked its customers for their continued support and understanding, and customers are encouraged to contact their Neptune Pacific representative for any further information or queries.
